doTERRA Essential Oils to Maintain a Healthy Urinary Tract

One of the tricks for maintaining a healthy urinary tract is to start with healthy gut flora and you can read about maintaining healthy gut flora with doTERRA essential oils on this post. Another thing to consider is that your immune system needs to be strong. You can read here about how to support your immune system with doTERRA’s On Guard line of products. You may also need to cleanse and restore and you can read more about that on this post.

For any mild, occasional issues, you can also take 3 drops each of basil, cinnamon and oregano in a capsule up to 3 times daily until symptoms subside. Since everyone is so different, if these don’t work, you may need to experiment a little more.  Some other oils to try are Purify, lemongrass, cedarwood, cassia, oregano or juniper berry.

Is Onguard safe to use on a 4 year old? Or any other blend to try? My daughter suffers from UTI’s and was recently hospitalized for one as it turned into a kidney infection. So I am looking for ways to keep them at bay. Thanks!

    • Rebecca says

Yes. On Guard is safe for children and babies. You may just want to dilute it with a carrier oil first. The bottoms of the feet would be a good place to start.

My son has Spina Bifida and I do a catheter on him 4x/day so he is very UTI prone. I use cypress and juniper berry on his bladder externally am/pm and if he is symptomatic of a UTI I use a blend of lemongrass, frankincense, and melaluca. Then do on guard and oregano separately as needed. He hasn’t had to go the the Dr for a UTI since I started with these oils over a year ago!

It is also very, very important to take Vitamin C everyday to help UTI’s from taking place. Our bodies do not make this important Vitamin.

I am new to doTerra. My daughter suffers from UTI’s so I am very interested in using essential oils to help her. My other daughter has really bad exzema so I’m also looking for remedies for her.

I woke up one morning with a UTI. Being new to DoTerra, I had limited oils to work with. I swallowed 6 drops of OnGuard along with two drops of Lemon. I went back to bed and woke up ONE HOUR later without any burning or the need to “go” constantly. Amazing! I kept up with both those oils in smaller doses throughout the day, adding cranberry juice that night as a precaution. The next day I felt fine and didn’t use oils. On day 3, suddenly the “urge” and burning were back. Quickly chugged the OnGuard and Lemon and again, within an hour my symptoms were gone. That was last week, and I have had no problems since!

My grown daughter has UTI’s on a regular basis. I’m afraid that the antibiotics prescribed to her have long since been effective for her. My question is, she is a kidney patient and had a transplant in 2004. Do you think it would be safe for her to use any of these oils? And if so, which ones would be the most safe for her. I think I will at least get her to begin the oil pulling and eating coconut oil and see how much that aids her. Any suggestions you may have will certainly be helpful to me. Thank you so much!

    • Rebecca says

Essential oils are definitely safe for her to use. Much better than synthetic drugs. If she’s worried about safety, just have her start out small. Just try a few drops a day and dilute it with fractionated coconut oil and use it topically on her feet. That’s the safest place.

I did some research last week when I came down with a UTI. I just spent a ton of money on the oil sharing kit and I was eager to dig into it and obviously couldn’t go to the Dr. :) What worked for me. ( I don’t know if it was over kill or not but it worked) I applied coconut oil with 3 drops frankincense, 3 drops melaleuca, 2 drops oregano, and rubbed it on my tummy and back. (My husband complained of the smell but he is weird. Pain left instantly. Every morning thereafter I applied that to my feet. Ingested 3 drops of onguard and drank lots of lemon water and bought a jar of cranberry pills. It worked. It helped me mostly quit Diet Pepsi. a few days I didn’t have any at all. :)

Thanks for this info! I have a friend that suffers from UTI all the time and i am looking for a blend for her. I will update how it goes!

My son has Spina Bifida so I do intermittent catheters 4x/day. This makes him very UTI prone, he is 14mos and has already had 4. Do you have thoughts regarding an oil regiment for UTI prevention. I was wondering about Oregano & Melaluca applied to his feet daily, but I’m new to this so wanted to ask the pro 😉

    • says

That’s a tough one. You shouldn’t put oregano oil directly on anything so you would want to really dilute that. Personally, I would start with On Guard on his feet 3 times a day and go from there.

    • Lois says

Oregano is a very strong oil which is great for treating many infections, but it is too strong to use on a regular basis for prevention. I would stick to on guard, melaleuca, and lemongrass… On a non-essential oils note, pure coconut water with no added sugar is a great tool for preventing and treating UTI’s (I’ve used it many times with great success in treating UTI’s in pregnancy)

    • Ks says

At 14 months old I would avoid the oregano! Always try a small amount first to check reactions. If he is on any medications I would google to make sure no interferences first.
