This post has two sections. The first half has 9 Clean Eating Cookies Recipes of all types and the second half has only chocolate chip cookies. They are all so yummy you can’t resist them. You have to try them all!
Making and eating cookies, if you are on a Clean Eating diet, can be quite confusing and a little difficult to understand. There are many different kinds of Clean Eating flour and some you can make yourself just by taking ingredients like almonds , oats, and cashews and blending them in your blender into flour.
For the purpose of this post, I decided to stick with flours that most people already have sitting in their cupboards or are easy to get. Also, flour that are less expensive and more easily affordable and accessible. That’s why I stuck with quite a few recipes that use whole wheat flour .
Spelt flour is one of my favorite flour too. It is not technically gluten-free and for these purposes, it doesn’t need to be. I like spelt flour because it is more easily digestible and less offensive to your stomach. Even though I am supposed to eat gluten-free, I find that I can eat spelt flour and be just fine.
Something to note is that when eating clean and using oats, always either use old fashioned oats or steel cut oats . I know some people that eat clean or think they are eating clean that eat quick oats. Quick oats are not clean. Why? Because they have been processed more times that old fashioned oats , that why they are smaller and cook faster.
Because they have been processed more, more of the vitamins and minerals and good stuff has disappeared. If you want the oats for a specific recipe to be smaller all you have to do is put them in the blender and pulse them for a few seconds and they will be a lot smaller. Don’t blend them too long or you’ll end up with oat flour . Yes, that is how oat flour is made.
The texture of whole wheat flour is more course and it doesn’t taste as good. That’s why you need to just use these recipes I have here because they have been tried and tested and proven to be successful using these other kinds of flour.
The question is – what flours are Clean Eating? Basically, you have to read the labels and make sure they are whole grains. I found a blog post that I think is awesome. 9 Clean Eating Chocolate Chip Cookies
I know that Clean Eating sure is healthy, but sometimes it is also a lot more work to make cookies from scratch. Rather than just picking up a package at the local grocery store, mixing it up and baking it. But I can say that it is worth it in the end. I know that I certainly feel a lot better when I eat Clean. All those preservatives aren’t good for you and they make me feel awful. I also know that everything I make that is Clean sure does taste a lot better too. I don’t even to look at a store bought cookie anymore. I think they are disgusting. Just think about how old they are, the only reason they aren’t rotten is that of all the preservatives in them. Disgusting!
When my mother grew up, her mother made everything from scratch almost. That was back before a lot of things were available pre-packaged at the stores. My mother grew up on homemade whole wheat bread, homemade cookies made with wholewheat flour (which she ground herself into flour). Milk straight from the cow and eggs my mother gathered from the chicken nests herself. They even ate the chickens they killed and cleaned from the farm. Those were the days.
My mother remembers that what they called store-bought bread was like candy to her. My mother loved it, even craved it, and that is because they never had it. She only remembers the brand Wonder Bread with the red, yellow and blue balloons on the white plastic package. On the other hand, my mother also remembers all the work it took to make a big batch of homemade bread once a week, which basically took the whole day. She remembers having to clean out the guts from the inside of a chicken.
Her family planted an acre of garden and weeded it and watered it and picked the vegetables and froze and canned them. Then there were her brother and father that had to milk the cows twice a day, every day – no days off there. If you wanted to go out of town you had to find someone else to milk the cows for you.
She used to make her own butter from the fresh milk they got from the cows. She also made homemade cottage cheese, now that is one thing she didn’t like homemade, store made is much creamier. The texture of homemade cottage cheese is awful. It certainly was a way of life and a whole lot of work. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
The point to all this is that we don’t have to do all the work to still have good clean homemade cookies. We can buy whole wheat flour from the store already ground. Of course, it isn’t as fresh and some of the nutrients have escaped by the time the flour gets to the store and you get it home. You can buy good, fresh butter from the store. I have seen fresh homemade butter in my local grocery store made by the Amish. It sure does look good and looks just like the butter my Grandma used to make. A lot less work too. We can buy raw whole milk from the store too, don’t have to milk those cows either. It’s not as fresh though and actually a lot more expensive.
Anyway, have I made anyone want to go out and buy a farm with some cows and chickens and plant a huge garden? It can be done, it has been done for centuries and it certainly is a fun way of life. You’ll never have to go to the gym again, you get all of the exercise you’ll ever need just working on the farm to put dinner on the table.

These are somewhat versatile meaning that you can change out some of the ingredients if you want to. Just use what you have on hand if that’s what you prefer. The maple syrup and honey can be interchanged, so can the spelt flour and the whole wheat flour and coconut butter and butter. They will turn out more cakey than chewy but they are still really good.
