This is a common question in the Paleo Recipes and Support Facebook Group so I compiled a list of the answers here in this post so you can read through responses from real people. Have your own questions? Ask them in the above group and see if they get featured in the Paleo Questions category.
Linda A. – Texas Roadhouse steak and veggies with a salad never fail me
Britney K. – Chicken wings!!!!! Always my go-to
Linda A. – where do u order them?
Britney K. – wild Wings or buffalo wings. I usually get salt and pepper or gar par.. or a jerk and i bring my own yacon syrup garlic sauce
Maggie W. – A&w does lettuce buns. Cut the cheese & mayo and a side of sweet potato fries ( I know they’re deep fried but its closer!)
Sandy Y. – Texas roadhouse! Steak, salad and sweet potato
Stephanie P. – Texas road house puts butter on almost everything so make sure to ask for your steak dry.
Linda A. – i did ask for olive oil on everything 🙂 thank you for looking out
Michael W. – Texas Roadhouse! Prime Rib, sweet potato and a salad.
Donna S. – I love Texas Roadhouse chili without cheese. As you should know, there’s no beans in Texas chili. Never was and never will be.
Samantha E. – Core Life Eatery
Colleen D. – Chipotle
Erin G. – Chipotle now has “Lifestyle Bowls” that are Paleo
Kay P. – We don’t have any Paleo restaurants but when I go out I get steak and veggies…lunchtime is difficult..Panera is the closest
Kati G. – There’s Hu Kitchen in NYC and they have Paleo chocolate!
Marsha E. – Salad with grilled chicken on it. Ask for oil and vinegar for the dressing.
Michelle H. – Just finished a vacation and in restaurants, I mostly had salads and a protein, or a protein and extra veggies. I lost 3 pounds on my 9 day vaca!
Jeremy M. – Order meat and double side of veggies.
Niki L. – I went to Carrabba’s recently. For the side, I asked for steamed broccoli with Pic Pac Sauce (plum tomatoes, garlic, basil and olive oil). Then, you can pick a main dish of your choice. Ruby Tuesday: They have the salad bar that you can eat a la carte or as a side.
– Red Robin: You can get lettuce wraps instead of buns. They have bottomless salad, broccoli, sweet potatoes fries as side dish options.
– Chick-Fil-A: Grilled nuggets and fruit. (They also have diet lemonade with Splenda .)
– Bonefish: You have an array of seafood (or chicken/steak) to choose from.
– Jimmy John’s: They offer un-wiches (lettuce wraps) for their sandwiches
Lynn M. – Though Chick Fil A grilled nuggets are gluten-free, they are not paleo. They contain soybean oil and corn starch. Though switching bread to lettuce at Jimmy John’s helps, most of their lunch meats contain sugar, gluten, and other ingredients that do not make them paleo either.
Niki L. – I know some people follow the 80/20 or 90/10 principle when they are on vacation/dine out. So, I was just offering suggestions, esp if she is going out with a group of people. In general, if you are going out to eat, you should assume that your meal will not be 100% paleo.
Karen B. – I would suggest a steakhouse and order a steak and steamed veggies for the side. Or Sweet Tomatoes.
What Paleo food do you get at Mexican restaurants?
Elizabeth H. – When we go to a Mexican restaurant we order the fajitas minus the cheese, beans, and tortillas normally.
Dee W. – Always ask for lettuce in place of tortilla
Julie L. – At Mexican restaurants, you can have the chile rellenos without the cheese and do the meat stuffing instead. No beans or rice. It is a poblano pepper with an egg batter.
Lois H. – At Mexican restaurants, I love a salad with broiled chicken thighs, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, avocado. Doesn’t need dressing. It’s perfect.
