I love sweet potatoes because they are just a great base for a meal and they are a healthy carb. I really wanted more sweet potato recipes that I could make easily in the slow cooker.
I firmly think that a slow cooker was one of the best inventions ever created! In this post we have a variety of sweet potatoes dishes that are all Paleo and made in a slow cooker. They aren’t just soup and chili recipes. There are some casserole, pork loin and stew recipes too with sweet potatoes in them.
I love how sweet potatoes are sweet, but not too sweet. That may sound weird, but I love how you get a little sweetness, but it’s not a sugary sweetness. That is unless you put marshmallows and such on top of your sweet potato. I think of them like a squash, because they taste similar and they are also just about the healthiest way you can get carbs on the Paleo diet.
Did you also know that what most people think are sweet potatoes are actually yams? Sweet potatoes and kind of in between taste of a white potato and a yam. I ordered sweet potato fries at a restaurant once and got real sweet potatoes and was pleasantly surprised. I HATE white potatoes, but the sweet potato fries were SO good.

This is one of those meals you’ll wonder why you never thought of it yourself and then you’ll want to make it all the time. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s quick to make but it sure is easy. I say that because the pulled pork is easy to cook in the crockpot but of course, you have to wait for it to cook so it isn’t fast. But it sure is easy. All you do is cook the pork shoulder in the crock pot then make some homemade BBQ sauce, stir it in and put it on a baked sweet potato. I love the flavor of the BBQ sauce together with the sweetness of the sweet potatoes. They’re a match made in heaven.
