Taco Pizza Spelt Pizza Crust Recipe with Spicy Marinara Sauce

Description

I  love this Clean Eating taco pizza made with spelt flour *! It's a lot healthier than pepperoni and my kids love it.


Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Crust

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp instant yeast
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (or oil of your choice)
  • 2 Tbsp no sugar added applesauce. If you don’t have applesauce, add 2 Tbl. more of oil)
  • 2 cups light spelt flour * (can add up to half as whole spelt flour *)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Real Salt *

Toppings

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp homemade taco seasoning or store-bought Clean taco seasoning
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced olives
  • 1 1/2 cups colby jack cheese

Spicy Marinara

  • 1 small jar Clean classic marinara sauce or crushed tomatoes will do a pinch
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbl chili powder

Instructions

Pizza Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef in a skillet until browned all the way through
  2. Drain excess grease and add 1 packet of taco seasoning
  3. Prepare crust according to directions
  4. Prepare spicy marinara sauce by combining all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes
  5. Spread desired amount of marinara sauce on the crust
  6. Top with ground beef
  7. Sprinkle cheese on top of ground beef
  8. Top with tomatoes and olives
  9. Bake at 400 F for about 15 minutes

Crust Instructions

  1. Let water and yeast sit until yeast is foaming (about five minutes)
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients
  3. Knead until it comes together
  4. Use a rolling pin to roll in a circle and place on pizza pan.
