I made this list of 9 Paleo pasta dishes because pasta is something I really miss on the Paleo diet. Enjoy these Paleo meals without any of the carbs. People on a Paleo diet are not the only ones that can’t eat pasta.
People that need a gluten-free diet or those with any kind of Diabetes or Hypoglycemia also should not eat pasta. That is a large part of the world’s population, so what are all of them supposed to do if they want a good tasty lasagna, spaghetti or fettuccine?
Zucchini noodles or what some people call “Zoodles” seem to be the number one choice. You can tell that by taking a quick glance at all of the Paleo pasta recipes I have listed below. I prefer my “zoodles” raw and not cooked at all.
Many of the recipes below for Paleo pasta are made with zucchini but there also other alternatives. It sounds like a good idea to plant some zucchini in my garden to save me some money and get some good fresh vitamin-filled zucchini!
Below the recipe title, I wrote the main ingredient that the pasta is made out of in that particular recipe. I hope this helps save you some time so you can check out the recipes that sound and look the best to you.
Here are some answers to some common questions:
Are Magic Noodles Paleo?
Shirataki noodles are thin translucent noodles that are very low carb. They are made from the konjac plant. No, they aren’t really Paleo but I know a lot of people on Paleo diets that eat them occasionally.
Are rice noodles Paleo?
Paleo purists say absolutely not. But I know people who eat them on occasion.
Is Rice in the Paleo diet?
People who follow a very strict Paleo diet will avoid rice just because it is a grain and no grains are allowed on the Paleo diet. On the other hand, diet is a very individual decision and there is no right or wrong answer.
Is Pho allowed on Paleo?
Pho is a Vietnamese soup made with rice noodles. Since rice is not Paleo Pho soup isn’t Paleo. You could substitute rice noodles with zucchini noodles or they are called zoodles.

Paleo Pasta Dishes
1. Zucchini Crock Pot Paleo Lasagna – My Natural Family
Tomatoes – Onion – Ground Turkey – Summer Squash – Coconut Milk – Zucchini – Egg
My sister absolutely loves lasagna so I developed this Paleo lasagna for her which just happens to also be gluten-free. It’s just like regular lasagna but zucchini replaces the noodles and it has coconut milk instead of cheese. I think I actually like it better without the noodles. Then I realized that’s probably because the zucchini makes it nice and moist and best of all it doesn’t make me sick. Win-Win!
2. Bursted Tomato & Pesto Baked Paleo Spaghetti Squash – My Natural Family
Spaghetti Squash – Pine Nuts – Cherry Tomatoes – Fresh Basil
This is a really good alternative to pasta. This “spaghetti” is made with spaghetti squash which is tossed in a dairy-free pesto and then it is topped with yummy bursted cherry tomatoes covered in garlic oil. The pesto sauce recipe that is included makes a good size amount so you can have plenty of pesto sauce, it’s the best part.
3. Paleo Mac and Cheese – My Natural Family
Cauliflower – Butter – Yellow Squash – Carrot – Onion – Coconut Milk – Egg Yolk
This mac and cheese is a big hit in our house. My kids beg for it and it doesn’t even have any pasta or cheese in it. The carrot gives it the cheesy color and the cauliflower gives it the texture and illusion of pasta. You really think you’re eating mac and cheese but this is WAY healthier.
4. Chunky Vegetable & Roasted Tomato Paleo Marinara Sauce – My Natural Family
Tomatoes – Onion – Bell Pepper – Carrots – Real Salt – Fresh Rosemary – Fresh Oregano – Red Chili Flakes – Garlic – Bay Leaves – Olive Oil
I got this recipe from my mother who got it from my grandmother. She got it from her mother in law who came straight from Sicily. My family is Italian and this recipe has been handed down from generation to generation. It can be made from fresh or canned tomatoes. Of course, it is best if fresh tomatoes are used.
This is a pretty standard recipe. I’ve been known to use it for lasagna sauce often or it can be used for pizza sauce or for any other recipe you need a basic tomato sauce for. The instructions say to cook it for 20 minutes for your convenience. But truth be known the secret is to let it simmer on the stovetop for 8 hours and let all the liquid boil off. At the same time, all the flavors blend together.
The whole neighborhood can smell the sauce when it’s cooked for so long. You can simmer it in a crockpot too probably. Of course, if we don’t want a vegan meal we add meatballs and pork chops to it. That’s where the best flavor comes from. I make a big huge pot full and freeze the leftovers in containers that hold the amount I would use for a single meal.
5. Cashew Satay Spiralized Vegetable Stir Fry – Cotter Crunch
Zucchini – Cabbage – Red Onion – Sesame Oil – Cashew Butter – Red Chili Flakes – Tamari – Honey – Garlic
If you like the taste of Asian dishes that are still real Paleo this is a good one for you. I love stir fry plus I think it’s really easy to make. It’s made with zucchini instead of rice.
6. Garlic Chicken Alfredo – Wholesomelicious
Cashews – Chicken Breast – Avocado Oil – Garlic – Onion – Chicken Broth – Lemon Juice – Tahini – Nutritional Yeast – Fresh Basil – Zucchini Spiralized Noddles
I haven’t had chicken alfredo for years. I think I almost forget it exists. Then I saw this recipe and decided this is exactly what I need. I really miss chicken alfredo. This is a perfect replacement. Why didn’t I think of making it with zoodles before?
7. Creamy Avocado “Pasta” with Chicken and Asparagus – The Healthy Foodie
Zucchini – Chicken Breast – Pink Himalayan Salt – Black Pepper – Endive – Asparagus – Walnuts – Fresh Parsley – Avocado – Coconut Milk – Lemon – Thyme
This is kind of like chicken alfredo but it is actually quite different. This is made with asparagus and walnut and avocado. Yum, I’m going to have to make this one too.
8. Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Squash – Paleo Leap
Spaghetti Squash – Chicken – Bell Peppers – Red Onion – Garlic – Salsa – Green Onions – Tomato Sauce – Chili Powder – Cumin – Garlic Powder – Onion Powder
Love the flavors of Mexican enchilada’s and spaghetti squash together. It’s quite a delight and oh so healthy. Pretty darn easy to make too.
9. Spicy Chicken and Golden Beet Noodles – Inspiralized
Chicken Breast – Mina Harissa Spicy Green Pepper Sauce – Garlic – Shallot – Chicken Broth – Golden Beets
Beet noodles might be a new concept for you but it’s way worth trying. You may just find your new love. You may want to use them in all your favorite vegetable pasta meals.
